Stroberi dan Bluberi Cegah Serangan Jantung

Kompas.com - Kabar gembira bagi Anda penggemar buah-buahan jenis beri. Menurut penelitian, wanita yang rutin mengonsumsi buah stroberi atau bluberi beresiko lebih rendah terkena serangan jantung.

Penelitian yang dimuat dalam jurnal Circulation ini menunjukkan, wanita yang sering makan buah beri risikonya 32 persen lebih rendah mendapat serangan jantung dibanding yang makan buah-buahan itu sebulan sekali.

Bluberi dan stroberi adalah buah yang tinggi kandungan flavonoid-nya, terutama jenis antosianin, yang diketahui bermanfaat untuk melawan terjadinya plak penyebab serangan jantung.

Penelitian terbaru mengenai manfaat buah beri itu meliputi 93.600 wanita berusia 25-42 yang berpartisipasi dalam Nurses Health Study II. Pola makan para partisipan ini dicatat setiap empat tahun selama periode 18 tahun. Pada akhir penelitian, terdapat 405 responden yang kena serangan jantung.

"Rajin mengonsumsi buah-buahan beri, bahkan pada usia muda akan menurunkan risiko serangan jantung di kemudian hari," kata Aedin Cassidy, ketua departemen nutrisi dari Norwich Medical School di Universitas East Angelica, Inggris.

Pada studi tahun 2012 yang dimuat dalam American Journal of Medicine juga disebutkan bahwa wanita yang sering mengonsumsi antioksidan dari makanan, risikonya terkena serangan jantung turun sampai 20 persen dalam periode 10 tahun mendatang.

NORMALKAH POLA MAKAN ANDA?



Jakarta - Secara alamiah, manusia dikaruniai naluri untuk mengontrol asupan makan melalui rasa lapar. Bila segala sesuatunya berjalan 'normal', belum mengalami gangguan apapun, seseorang tidak perlu diet untuk menerapkan pola makan yang sehat.

Tentunya ada kondisi tertentu yang mengharuskan seseorang mengatur sendiri pola makannya. Saat naluri, nafsu makan dan rasa lapar sudah tidak bisa diandalkan lagi, maka diperlukanlah program 'diet' untuk menjaga tubuh tetap sehat.

Berikut ini beberapa hal yang menilai apakah pola makan masih 'normal' atau sudah harus diet, seperti dikutip dari Huffingtonpost, Selasa (27/8/2013).
1. Normalnya tidak usah direncanakan

Secara naluriah, seseorang akan makan saat merasa lapar, atau pada waktu-waktu tertentu sesuai rutinitas sehari-harinya. Pola makan yang normal juga tidak mengenal perencanaan, harus makan ini-itu dan harus menuliskan jadwal kapan boleh makan maupun tidak. Saat segala sesuatunya mulai serba diatur, dan naluri alamiahnya tidak bisa diandalkan, saat itulah pola makan dikatakan sudah tidak 'normal'.
2. Normalnya tidak memikirkan makanan sepanjang hari
Seseorang dengan pola makan yang masih 'normal', tidak akan memikirkan hal-hal yang berhubungan dengan makanan selain pada saat makan. Bukan cuma soal perencanaan, tetapi juga berbagai fantasi tentang program diet, berat badan dan sebagainya. Memikirkan makanan hanya saat makan, setelah itu akan menjalani hidup dengan 'normal'.
3. Normalnya tidak perlu merasa bersalah saat makan enak
Seseorang dengan pola makan 'normal' tidak memiliki 'penilaian moral' tentang makanannya, seolah-olah seluruh dunia akan menganggapnya berdosa jika makan donat yang banyak gulanya. Mengonsumsi makanan sehat memang dianjurkan, tapi 'normalnya' sekali waktu tubuh bisa mentoleransi makanan enak.
4. Normalnya makan itu spontan
Artinya hanya makan saat merasa lapar, berhenti saat kenyang dan hanya mengonsumsi makanan yang dirasa enak pada saat tersebut. Dalam kondisi 'normal', tubuh memiliki 'biological wisdom' yang secara otomatis akan membatasi asupan-asupan tidak sehat. Jika sudah harus serba diatur, itu berarti sudah 'tidak normal'.
5. Normalnya tidak harus lapar saat galau
Seseorang dengan pola makan 'normal' bunya beragam cara untuk mengatasi ketidaknyamanan. Seperti diketahui, beberapa orang mengalami peningkatan nafsu makan, khususnya untuk mengonsumsi makanan manis, saat mengalami stres secara emosional. Saat tidak bisa mengatasi stres tanpa makanan, maka pola makan sudah tidak 'normal'.

MUI expects to take leading part in halal certification

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) expects the institution still have the leading role in halal certification process. Government could play roles in socializing, regulating and monitoring, Chairman of MUI, Amihdan, said.
Amihdan said that MUI was the right insitution to lead the process. "If only government wants to participate, they can take part in post-certification," Amihdan said on Wednesday in the press release, explaining that MUI and the Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics (LPPOM) were one step ahead.
LPPOM MUI has provided online halal certification in which LPPOM will send the auditor to the respective company. The during the visit to Amihda, head of PKS faction, Hidayat Nur Wahid, said PKS supported MUI to take the lead in making the edict of halal and haram. "Government can play some roles in socializing, monitoring, and regulating the halal certification," he said. Wahid also asked MUI to communicate with other factions to get more supports.

Jakarta, Makan di suasana remang atau gelap bisa dibilang romantis, tapi hasil akhirnya ternyata tak hanya itu. Ini karena makan di ruangan remang-remang cenderung membuat orang mengonsumsi lebih banyak kalori.

Menurut Ketua GP Jamu Charles Saerang, kebanyakan masyarakat Indonesia mengonsumsi jamu untuk 3 hal, yaitu untuk menghilangkan pegal-pegal, meningkatkan stamina, dan pelangsingan. Artinya, jamu cukup menjadi andalan untuk mendapatkan kualitas kesehatan yang lebih baik.
Lalu bagaimana cara membedakan jamu alami dengan jamu dengan bahan kimia obat? Antoni Tarigan, peneliti dari Yayasan Pemberdayaan Konsumen Kesehatan Indonesia (YPKKI) mengatakan, memang agak sulit membedakan jamu alami dengan jamu berbahan kimia obat (BKO). "Namun dengan melihat kemasan mungkin dapat membantu membedakannya," ungkap Tarigan dalam jumpa pers Rabu (30/1/2013) kemarin di Jakarta
Meskipun kemasan jamu berbahaya seringkali dipalsukan nomor izinnya, namun dari nama produk dan industri yang memproduksi dapat terlihat suatu jamu perlu diwaspadai. "Biasanya jamu BKO bernama aneh, seperti Putri Sakti, Busur Api, Tombak Dayak. Kemasannya pun bergambar organ-organ, padahal itu tidak diizinkan. Untuk jamu peningkat stamina, seringkali tertera gambar-gambar vulgar dan erotis," tuturnya.
Selain ciri-ciri tadi, sebaiknya Anda juga jangan memilih jamu yang tidak ada keterangan dengan berbahasa Indonesia, karena sudah dapat dipastikan jamu tadi tidak melewati pengawasan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM).
Duta Jamu Indonesia, Ratna Listy pun turut bersuara untuk memberikan kiat aman dalam memilih jamu alami. "Jamu adalah ramuan alami, efeknya perlu waktu lama untuk dirasakan oleh tubuh. Makanya jangan pilih jamu yang khasiatnya cespleng," ujarnya.

Bau kimia pada jamu juga dapat menjadi indikasi jamu BKO, tambahnya. Ia mengakui kesedihannya pada masyarakat Indonesia yang cinta jamu malah dimanfaatkan oleh industri yang memproduksi jamu BKO. "Kita harus saling bahu-membahu dalam memerangi jamu BKO, salah satunya dengan sosialisasi jamu BKO ini pada seluruh masyarakat," ujarnya.

Kepala Badan POM: Jamu Berbahaya yang Beredar Buatan Home Industry

Jakarta, Baru-baru ini, Yayasan Pemberdayaan Konsumen Kesehatan Indonesia (YPKKI) menemukan adanya produk jamu dengan kandungan Bahan Kimia Obat yang beredar di pasaran. Padahal produk tersebut sudah pernah dijaring oleh Badan POM. Lantas bagaimana bisa masih bisa muncul di pasaran?

Ada 56 produk jamu yang ditemukan mengandung bahan kimia obat. Obat-obat ini ditemukan di 5 kota besar di Indonesia, yaitu Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogya dan Surabaya. Badan POM mengakui pernah merazia produk-produk tersebut.

"Badan POM memang pernah menemukan produk-produk tersebut dan melakukan langkah tegas. Saya duga produk yang ditemukan oleh YPKKI tersebut tidak memiliki izin edar atau pernah mendaftar namun dicabut izinnya. Kebanyakan juga merupakan produk jamu home industri atau industri rumahan," kata Lucky S. Slamet, Kepala Badan POM ketika dihubungi detikHealth, Rabu (30/1/2013).

Lucky juga menjelaskan bahwa Badan POM sebenarnya sudah mengantongi titik-titik peredaran jamu-jamu ilegal tersebut. Dari hasil temuan lapangan sebelumnya, kebanyakan obat tersebut diproduksi di daerah perifer seperti Cilacap dan kota-kota kecil lainnya.

"Tapi agaknya produknya tetap ada karena mungkin permintaan dari masyarakat masih ada. Untuk itu kami juga perlu melakukan edukasi kepada masyarakat mengenai risiko pemakaian produk-produk seperti itu," terang Lucky.

Lucky berjanji akan menindak lanjuti temuan YPKKI ini. Badan POM sendiri selalu menggelar operasi rutin sebulan sekali. Selain itu di daerah juga sudah ada 'kepanjangan tangan' berupa Balai POM yang bertugas melakukan pengawasan di daerah.

Sejak tahun 2012 lalu, Badan POM mulai membentuk Operasi Gabungan yang melibatkan lintas sektor untuk menjaring produk-produk berbahaya dan ilegal. Dalam kurun waktu 2001 sampai 2012, Badan POM juga sudah melakukan 14 kali public warning mengenai adanya produk jamu yang mengandung Bahan Kimia Obat (BKO). Namun nampaknya cara ini belum berhasil sepenuhnya meredam peredaean jamu berbahaya.

Sports nutritionist Wendy Martinson shares her tips on food and drink for sport, and how a good diet can help you get the best fitness and sport results.

Can I eat more when I'm doing lots of exercise?

If you're doing lots of exercise, you'll use more energy each day than if you did little or none. So if you don’t want to lose body fat, you need to eat more food each day.
But still make sure that you have a balanced diet. Aim for larger portions of carbohydrate-rich foods such as wholegrain pasta, rice, sweet potato, porridge and breakfast cereals.

Is it better to eat a diet high in starchy carbohydrates or protein when I'm training?

Carbohydrates are the fuel that power your exercise regime.
Protein is needed in moderate amounts for muscle growth and repair, but the main form of energy used during exercise is carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates are the most important fuel for muscles, and an essential energy source for the brain and central nervous system.

How should I time my meals and snacks around exercise?

Once you’ve eaten a meal or snack, allow between one and four hours to pass before you start exercising. Your body needs time to digest. The amount of time will depend on the amount of food you've eaten.
If it's an average meal, eating around two hours before you exercise works well. The meal should be high in carbohydrate, low in fat and low to moderate in protein. Too much protein or fat will slow down the movement of foods from the stomach, and will make you feel uncomfortable.
Food and drink also plays a part in recovering effectively from training. Good recovery is crucial to prevent a midweek slump in energy levels, and to aid muscle growth and repair. When you finish training, aim to have a carbohydrate-rich food or drink within 30 minutes.

Do I need to drink when I exercise?

Dehydration is when the water content in your body falls too low. It can have a major effect on exercise performance. It's important to start any exercise session well hydrated. Do this by drinking water, squash or diluted fruit juice regularly during the course of the day.
For any exercise that lasts longer than 30 minutes, drink fluid while you're doing it. The more you sweat, the more you’ll need to drink.
Water is usually enough for low-intensity exercise up to 50 minutes. For higher-intensity exercise lasting more than 50 minutes, or lower-intensity exercise lasting hours, a sports drink would be of benefit.
The carbohydrates in a sports drink will help to maintain energy levels, and the salt helps to keep you hydrated.

My friend exercises to lose weight, but I exercise to build muscle. Should our diets be different?

Yes. To lose weight, or more specifically body fat, the amount of energy that you consume has to be less than the amount of energy you burn. You’ll need a diet and exercise regime that makes this happen.
There are key steps you can take to reduce the energy content in your daily diet. Reduce fat, which is the most concentrated source of energy, and reduce alcohol. Eat fewer sugary foods, such as sweets, chocolates, cakes, biscuits and sugary drinks, and eat regular but smaller portions of complex carbohydrate foods, such as wholegrain bread, rice and pasta.

But to build muscle you need to combine resistance training (also called strength training) with a diet that includes enough energy to enable your body to make muscle.

A particularly effective approach is to eat small amounts of protein and carbohydrate before and after the resistance training session. A low-fat milkshake can work well.

Should I take extra supplements when I'm playing sport?

There are many different supplements on the market. Some of them are based on solid research, and others aren't. Athletes need to consider supplements with extreme caution. In the past, some supplements were found to have been contaminated with banned substances.
First, ensure that you have a balanced, healthy diet that suits your sport. Consult a registered dietitian or nutritionist with expertise in sports nutrition. They can assess this and advise you on particular supplements.

Seperti halnya delicious dan lekker,umami juga sering digunakan sebagai gambaran kelezatan masakan. Umami bisa diartikan sebagai cita rasa ke 5 setelah manis, asin, asam dan pahit yang terasa di lidah sebagai reseptor rasa. Umami sendiri memiliki arti ‘gurih’. Kata ini sudah ditemukan lebih dari 100 tahun yang lalu di Jepang, dan diambil dari kata umai (lezat) dan mi (rasa).

Umami dihasilkan oleh kandungan asam amino glutamat dan jugaribonucleotides, termasuk inosinate dan guanylate yang tercecap di lidah. Cita rasa ini juga menjadi perhatian Dr. Kikunae Ikeda, seorang ahli kimia dariTokyo Imperial University. Di tahun 1908, ia berhasil membuat ekstrak glutamat dari bahan kombu atau rumput laut.

Di negara asalnya, umami identik dengan bahan kombu dashi atau kaldu Jepang berbahan dasar rumput laut yang dikeringkan. Hasil laut ini diolah menjadi pelengkap masakan, dan menciptakan cita rasa umami. Karenanya, umami bukanlah sebuah merk, namun rasa di indera pencecap yang terjejak karena makanan yang dinikmati.

“Kata-kata umami bukanlah brand. Kata umami adalah umum, siapapun bisa pakai. Siapapun bisa mendapatkan rasa gurih atau umami, tak hanya orang Jepang. Nah, bumbu penyedap masakan adalah salah satu sumber penghasil rasa umami,” kata Taro Komura, Presiden Direktur PT Ajinomoto Sales Indonesia.
